Bruxism is the involuntary habit of clenchching or grinding the teeth, frequently during sleep, and is one of the most common causes of jaw pain, tension headaches and dental wear.
The treatment consists of the application of toxin to the masseter muscle, to reduce the intensity of involuntary muscle contraction and relieve the associated tension.
Functional private consultation. Questions about sleep quality, jaw pain and daytime habits to confirm the root cause.
Plan design. Determination of the dose according to the degree of masseter hypertrophy.
In-office application. A brief procedure, specifically directed to the masseter muscle.
Follow-up. Review of the response and adjustment if necessary in subsequent consultations.
Expected results. Reduction of muscle tension, jaw pain and associated headaches. As an additional benefit, some patients notice a subtle slimming of the lower jaw contour, although it is not the main objective.
Effect duration. The effect usually lasts between 4 and 6 months, after which a new application may be required according to the patient’s progress.
Recovery and care. There is no downtime. It is recommended to avoid excessive chewing during the first hours after the application.
Is it an aesthetic treatment?
Not in its origin: it is a functional well-being intervention oriented to reducing pain and muscle tension.
How do I know if I have bruxism?
Jaw pain upon waking, frequent headaches or dental wear noticed by your dentist are common signs; the private consultation confirms the diagnosis.
Does the application hurt?
Mild and brief discomfort, similar to other toxin applications in muscle.
Does it affect the ability to chew?
At adequate doses, it does not compromise normal chewing function.
Does it also help define the jaw?
There may be a subtle slimming from muscle relaxation, although the main objective is functional, not aesthetic.
